Généalogie et Histoire de la Caraïbe
Our Society
"Généalogie et Histoire de la Caraïbe" was created in January 1989 and intend
to link people and societies interested in the History of the West Indies,
Caribbean and Guyanas as well as History of the families actually settled
or having lived there.
We are acting on the countries dipped by the Caribbean Sea, spanish, english
and french speaking ones but, more specifically, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique,
Saint Martin, Marie-Galante, Saint-Barthélemy, la Désirade, les Saintes and the
former french colonies like Saint Christophe (now Saint Kitts), Saint Domingue
(now Haiti) or Sainte Lucie.
Members of the Association actively participate to general interest works and
are making files and data bases with archives' records related
to the Caribbean and the Guyana, as censuses and marriages in the XVII th. and
XVIII th. centuries.
As member of the Fédération Française de Généalogie
we are in touch with most of
the other french genealogical societies which benefits our adherents.
Our bulletin (all in french, but if you want to translate it...) is the link between all the members.
Everybody is able to ask questions (in french, english, spanish) : this is free of charge and it is not mandatory to be a member of the association.
